News Release- Ryan Green - 26/06/2008

‘The Dabbers’ welcomed Ryan Green to their strike force this week. The 18 year old Stoke based player has agreed non contract terms and joins from Rotherham United after being one of a number of players released due to the League Two club’s financial difficulties. His arrival at The Weaver Stadium has been arranged by Pete Hall who coached the player at Port Vale before leaving for Rotherham at 16 years of age to take up the offer of a two year scholarship. Meanwhile, Steve Davis continues his search for new players with an additional goal keeper at the top of his wanted list.

In addition, Steve wishes to thank supporters for their interest but asks those who have requested a list of the squad to be posted on the club website to please be patient given that at this stage of pre-season it isn’t practical for him to provide one and that an end of July date is likely before his final squad is known. To date, all new signings have been announced in news releases on the club website and in the media, whilst apart from players from last seasons squad who have elected to leave The Weaver Stadium, the remainder of the squad have all signed UniBond League registration forms.

News Release - Charlotte King- 20 June 2008

CHARLOTTE ACHIEVES 25 HOURS OF VOLUNTEERING AT HER LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUB.

Charlotte King, a Young Leader who attends Malbank High School and Sixth Form College, completed her FA Junior Football Organizer Leadership qualification earlier in the academic year and signed up to The FA Step into Sport Programme. As part of Charlotte’s commitment to the programme she has been delivering volunteering coaching hours to support the development of the Saturday morning Mini-Soccer Community sessions at Nantwich Town Football Club. 16 year old Charlotte earned additional credit by becoming the first female Young Leader in Cheshire to complete all her qualifying hours.

The FA Step into Sport Programme is an initiative which enables The FA to enthuse, retain and support the development of young people within the game. The aim of the programme is to encourage the placement of students aged between 14–16 years who have completed a Leadership qualification or an FA Coaching qualification (Level 1 or Level 2), into local Charter Standard Football Clubs or appropriate agencies and recognize the commitment of the Young Leader. The programme plays a vital role in developing the volunteer workforce within the game through creation of an effective, safe and enjoyable pathway for Young Leaders.

Charlotte has been supported by club mentor and Nantwich Town Head Coach / Football Development Officer Steve Davis who has given advice and ideas to support Charlotte’s development. Steve Davis comments; “We have a number of Young Leaders involved in the club who are supporting different activities. The FA Step into Sport programme has allowed us to support and recognize the hard work these individuals have been performing within the club. Nantwich Town Football Club is a FA Charter Standard Community Club with over 20 teams that encompasses the under 8’s right through to the senior side. Without the support of all its volunteers Nantwich Town FC would be unable to operate as a community football club, which to all intents and purposes, is what the club is all about. The involvement of Young Leaders from Malbank High School and Sixth Form College through The FA Step into Sport Programme brings in more human resources which are always needed in a club of this size”.

Charlotte King

In last Thursday’s (19th June) presentation at The Weaver Stadium Charlotte was presented with her FA Step into Sport 10 hour and 25 hour certificates by Cheshire County FA Football Development Officer, James Self whilst Steve Davis was also in attendance to offer his congratuiations. Charlotte also receives a Cheshire County FA polo shirt and a year’s membership of the Cheshire County FA Coach Association ‘Coaching Connections’ to recognize her commitment.

14–18 year old’s who are interested in playing, coaching, refereeing or volunteering and want to ‘Get into Football’ should access the information via the internet on www.thefa.com/getintofootball or contact James Self at the Cheshire County FA on 01606 871155 or james.self@cheshirefa.com

News Release- Paul Donnelly - 17/06/2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB are disappointed to learn of defender Paul Donnelly’s decision to part company with ‘The Dabbers’ and sign for UniBond Premier Division rivals Witton Albion. The 27 year old former Port Vale defender joined Nantwich Town from Stone Dominoes three seasons ago and had been a regular in the ‘Dabbers’ line-up for the majority of that time. However, despite an offer of improved terms by the club Donnelly became attracted to Witton Albion after manager Nigel Deeley offered him a package and yesterday (Monday 16th June) Donnelly informed Nantwich head coach Steve Davis of his decision to move to the Wincham Park club. Of Donnelly’s switch Steve Davis say’s:- “Paul is a great lad, who I have a lot of time for and naturally I am very disappointed at his decision. I had hoped that he would remain with us and continue to fight for his place. However, he has made up his mind to leave us and we wish him the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution during these past three seasons.”

News - Nantwich Town Under 12s. Potteries Junior Youth League. Season 2007/2008

Under 12 season 2007-8

The senior team in the Under 12s section of the club play in Division One of the Potteries Junior Youth League and is jointly managed by Craig McKeith and Steve Smithies. Having come runners up in the Cheadle League as Under 11s, the team have had another successful season and repeated the feat in the Potteries League! For various reasons a number of games were cancelled throughout the season and the consequent backlog of fixtures in April and May perhaps caught up with the boys, and we eventually missed out on the championship by 3 points.

News Release - Mark Beeston - Wednesday 11th June 2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB have further added to their squad this week with the signing of defender Mark Beeston from Kidsgrove Athletic. Beeston, a former Crewe Alexandra trainee, is a versatile player with experience as a right back or as a central defender. He can also operate as a defensive midfield player. Whilst at Crewe, he had a loan spell with Hyde United whilst before joining Kidsgrove, he was at Vodcat North West Counties League First Division Newcastle Town. During his time at Newcastle, Beeston was the subject of an inquiry by ‘Dabbers’ head coach Steve Davis.

News Release - Wednesday 11th June 2008

Central defender Ryan Dicker, who joined ‘The Dabbers’ from Alsager Town before the start of last season, has notified head coach Steve Davis of his intention to seek another club, citing possible restrictions of regular first team football at The Weaver Stadium this coming season following recent new (defensive) signings.

Ahead of the 2008 / 2009 fixtures in the Premier Division of The UniBond League Nantwich Town have arranged to play FC United of Manchester on Boxing Day 2008 / New Years Day 2009. The home / away arrangements will be determined once the fixtures involving Bury FC / Crewe Alexandra are known.

News Release - Charlie O’Loughlin - Monday 9th June 2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB is pleased to announce the signing of former Port Vale defender Charlie O’Loughlin on contract terms. The 19 year old 6’4” defender has been a target for ‘The Dabbers’ for some time, particularly after his impressive loan spell at The Weaver Stadium last Autumn in which he scored a brace on his debut in the 4 - I win over Spalding United. The signing brings the total number of new recruits to seven, amongst which, three are defenders.

Meanwhile, Director of Football Clive Jackson and head Coach Steve Davis are looking to make a further signing this week whilst others may be invited to the start of pre-season training next Tuesday (17th June) with a view to adding to what is on paper, an impressive looking squad that will make it’s debut in the Premier Division of The UniBond Football League commencing on Saturday 16th of August 2008.

News Release - Darren Tinson - Thursday 5th June 2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB is pleased to announce the signing on contract terms of very experienced central defender DARREN TINSON. Negotiations with the chartered physiotherapist have been underway since the end of season but on Thursday evening 5th June) he accepted the terms on offer. The Birmingham born 6`00”defender began his football career at Connah’s Quay before taking in Colwyn Bay prior to a move to Northwich Victoria. In February 1996 he was the subject of a £10,000 move to Macclesfield Town before a transfer to Shrewsbury Town in July 2003. June 2005 saw a move to Conference club Burton Albion before he joined Altrincham in July 2007.

Also on Thursday evening, with the exception of Andy Kinsey, Paul Taylor and Mark Fitton who have moved clubs, all of last season’s squad have put pen to paper and as soon as the squad for 2008 / 2009 is finalized a list will be made available for both supporters and the media.

Meanwhile, Nantwich Town Director of Football Clive Jackson and Head Coach Steve Davis are targeting other potential signings as they strive to build a squad capable of challenging for at least a play-off place in the Premier Division of The UniBond Football League during the 2008 / 2009 season.

News - Signings and Departures - 1st June 2008

NANTWICH TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB are pleased to announce the contract signing of Michael Lennon. The highly rated striker has been a Nantwich target for some time. However, despite considering offers from a number of other clubs the attraction of playing for ‘The Dabbers’ in the Premier Division of the UniBond League as they celebrate their second successive promotion, has persuaded the 27 year old school teacher to pledge his immediate future to his new club. Despite his former club Kidsgrove Athletic enduring a difficult 2007/2008 season in the UniBond League First Division (South) Lennon still managed to score 14 times in the league accompanied by 8 cup goals to sign off with a total of 22 for the season.

Meanwhile, Nantwich have completed the signings of left back Dave Tickle and midfielder Rob Hawthorne from former UniBond Premier Division club Leek Town. Tickle was formerly on the books of Manchester City whilst Hawthorne is a former Crewe Alexandra trainee. The latest signings take the number of new recruits at The Weaver Stadium to five, meanwhile Director of Football Clive Jackson and Head Coach Steve Davis are hopeful that Altrincham defender Darren Tinson will pledge his future to Nantwich Town this week whilst former Port Vale defender Charlie O’Loughlin has promised an answer soon to an offer made earlier last month.

But whilst the club is naturally delighted at the arrival of the new signings it is with regret that the club has to announce the departure of Andy Kinsey. Despite his undoubted success with Nantwich Town since arriving from Leek Town three seasons ago Andy recently informed the club that he was considering a change of direction in his football commitments. Meantime, the club made an offer of improved terms for him to consider but over the weekend has elected to join North West Counties First Division Newcastle Town. Whilst in conversation with head coach Steve Davis Andy Kinsey told him that “my three seasons at Nantwich will probably be the finest of my career and I wish to thank the club for providing me with an opportunity that otherwise may never have come my way”. His best season came in 2006 / 2007 when he scored 35 goals including a brace in the 3-1 FA Vase victory over Hillingdon Borough in which he also earned notoriety for dislocating a shoulder whilst celebrating his second goal and had to be replaced. Also joining Newcastle from Nantwich are defenders Paul Taylor and Mark Fitton. The club wishes to place on record their most sincere thanks to Andy, Paul and Mark for their individual contributions during their time with ‘The Dabbers’ and wish them every success for the future.
